Kings Cross

Canvas, just off that York Way place... Turn left out of the station, take your first left after that, and then left again after the BP station, over the canal and just follow the music from there, lol. Its behind the x. I just got back from there, place was alright, although was so fascinated by how disgusting the area was that I ended up googling it, and here I am... Lol.

Kings Cross KINGS CROSS - IS IT SAFE

We will be visiting London from Halifax, Canada, in January 2006 and will be staying at a hotel in the Kings Cross area for four nights. We have to leave the hotel at 5 am one of those mornings to meet with a tour group at Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way, Russell Square (Stonehenge Sunrise tour). Is it safe to walk from Argyle Street in Kings Cross to Bedford Way at 5 am? There are two of us (mother and adult son). Or is it advisable to take a taxi from Central Hotel, Argyle Street, to Royal National Hotel, Bedford Way? Please advise.
Please send me an email if possible to  Mail-me . Thank you very much.

Kings Cross

Yes dear, it is safe to walk. I have lived in the heart of Kings Cross for many years and not experienced any trouble. The area has cleaned up considerably within the last few years however there are still a few undesirable elements. Just give them a wide birth and you'll be fine!

Kings Cross Not really dangerous

Kings Cross is not terrribly pleasane at night but once you get away from the station area (1 minutewalk) you'll be fine walking. It is also very easy to get a taxi.

Kings Cross

I wouldn't walk Kings Cross at night, aside from Peckham and Leyton its one of the most uncomfortable areas to walk in, daytime, nightime, 5am, doesn't matter, take a cab to be safe.

Kings Cross is very safe

i have lived in kings cross for over a year and I've found it to be very safe. of course the station is a large mainline train station so will have people waiting around outside, but it is well lit, and i have never had any problems walking around by myself in the dark (i am f, 24), and with the ongoing redevelopment of kings cross the area is getting better and better.

Kings Cross The true story about Kings Cross

I'm about to move in a flat in King's Cross, but I'm having hard time trying to ignore the bad reputation the area has earned.
I am trying to look on the bright side-King's X is being redesigned and it's atually one of the biggest development sites in London.
Still, when I hear stories about people witnessing knife stabbing and similar stuff...I'm just not sure any more.
The flat is between Kings X and Rusell, actually close to the corner of Euston Rd and Judd St.
I have a feeling that this part of King's X (closer to Rusell Sq) is safe. Am I right or wrong about this? Is this area dodgy and full of prostitutes and drug dealers in the night?
Please help me with this.

Kings Cross

hi,
Don't be affraid by King's X. I'm living in the area (on Caledonian Rd) for 5 month, I'm a girl, and I'm feeling safe here. You know, it's a busy noisy area which changing as you say.

Kings Cross

It is a great area to live. Don't let anyone disuade you. I have lived in the heart of Kings Cross for years. It's possible to walk to Soho, Angel, Camden in approx thirty minutes. I love it. It's full of history too and improving all the time. All the drug addicts have been pushed up to Camden. The ones you do encounter all seem to be rather polite. Welcome to the neighbourhood!

Kings Cross Kings Cross is well good

I moved here in August 2004, I'm about to move out in a few weeks time. I'll be kinda sad to leave it all behind! We've never had any trouble here. I live along Pentonville road right opposite the Thameslink. The Scala is a good night out of a Friday and so is the Egg club, and Sahara Nights always has something interesting happening if you can be bothered. I don't understand why people still raise their eyebrow when I tell them I live in Kings X. Maybe they're still livin in the stone ages, it's changed alot and is upcoming. The property prices here are increasing all the time, in a few more years it'll be even better. I mean hasn't anyone ever seen those adverts around Kings X? "Kings Cross, take another look'. You just need to use common sense, don't hang about on your own late at night for instance. But I would deffinetly look into moving around here especially if you're a student.  Mail-me

Kings Cross Whats the real deal with Kings Cross?

I am a student looking at housing around Pentonville Road, and have seen a possibility on Northdown street, which branches from Caledonian ROad onto Pentonville. It's 5 minutes (if that) from Kings station. One of my flat mates drove around the area at night, (CAledonian road and pentonville) on sunday on bank holiday weekend, and said the area was not safe. She would also need to walk to LSE, presumably down Gray's Inn ROad, which she also did not like. I am at UCL and would have to walk past the station everyday, and have no problem with that. I really like the place but was wondering if i could get advice from people who have lived in that area, and what they think.
Thanks

Kings Cross

I've lived in Kings X since 1996. There is a good police presence at all times and I've never had the least problem. In fact the two people I know who've been mugged both live in "safe" areas. One was attacked in the afternoon on her way home from the supermarket!
By the way, I live in Wharfdale Road on the corner of Northdown St.

Kings Cross Kings X is Wicked!

I agree, My girlfiend and I have been looking at buying a flat in Kings X for about a year. We finally moved into our fantastic pad about a month ago and we couldn't be happier. It's a fantastic area, I've never felt unsafe and there are some great bars. The Driver is basically on my door step and that's one I'd reccomend. Only thing left now is to make some good friends in the area! Email me at  Mail-me

Kings Cross Kings X is a dump

King's Cross is a dive foks, simple. The quality of life is very, very low. The area is ugly, unpleasant and sometimes dangerous. One of the many areas of London suffering from "emperor's new clothes"...

Kings Cross Touch Wood No Problems!

I totally disagree! I 've lived in Kings Cross for 4 years with no problems. However I had numerous problems living in Camden and then Kentish Town. My friend was mugged in the very posh St John's Wood. The 'other' Holloway rd end of Caledonian rd seems a bit dodgy. Any large Council Block Estates can be unsafe due to their design which allows muggers to hide and screams to go unheard. I am a Londoner born and bred and have lived in most areas of London at various times. Kings Cross is definately the most convenient & I don't believe it is any less safe than other parts of London. There are some great new trendy bars & restaurants & it is 5-10 mins walk to Angel with all bars etc.

Kings Cross April 15th

Hi!
Can anyone suggest some fun stuff to do (unusual places to walk to near King's Cross, etc.) and a nice place to eat on Friday 15th April to show an out-of-towner what London is REALLY like?

Kings Cross Got to be Regents Canal

You can walk the enitire length of it (not after dark !) and it runs from Limehouse in Docklands to Little Venice. there are numerous places to eat on the way, and it takes you through lots of different types of London. It's accessable via York Way or Caledonian Road, both next to Kings Cross station. If you put 'Regents Canal' into Google, you get loads of stuff - I just tried it.
