Is this Net Cafe you mentioned anywhere near 1 Canada Square as I don't know my way round here as yet? I know the Underground malls and where the slug and lettuce and Jubilee line is?

Thanks

Docklands Commute to Bromley-By-Bow?

I'm considering a job for six months in Bromley-By-Bow, where my working hours would be 8am to 7pm Monday to Friday and some Saturdays. Would I be able to rely on the Light Railway for the commute?

Docklands Commute to Bromley-by-Bow

Yes, the Docklands Light Railway is usually very reliable these days - although do allow a little extra time if you need to change en-route as they don't always hold connections.

Docklands

Is it just me, or are aeroplanes allowed to fly very close and very low to Canary Wharf (Landing at city airport mabye?) While in a meeting in One Canada Place, suddenly a massive boeing 767 i guess came into view, close enough to see the tail fin and logo, before banking to the side and going off. Surely it is not sensible to have aircraft flying right over Canary Wharf? In fact last time i went away, we flew over Canary Wharf.

Canary Wharf is very nice and clean, and safe and modern and all that and there are great shops, but it is not very restful, as we keep being told to expect a terror attack, and it is if you like the jewel in the crown of London

Docklands

City Airport is close to Canary Wharf and the planes pass close when taking off or landing (depending on wind direction). However City Airport only handles small planes so the 767 you saw would not have been using it. It is likely that the 767 you saw was on the approach to Heathrow; pilots often use the Thames as a navigational aid. It may have been flying lower than usual due to cloud cover.

In the aftermath of September 11th 2001, planes were actually banned from flying over London, and City Airport was closed - this lasted for about 10 days I believe.

Docklands Docklands safety issues

I have lived here 19 years just by Canary Wharf, before it was even built. All of London is prone to terrorist attack as are all the major cities but Canary Wharf is safer than most of the other prime targets in London.
