^ Colliers Wood COLLIERS WOOD IS DEFINATELY OKI am about to move to Colliers Wood. My girlfriend has been there for 3 years, and we both really like that place, hence why I'm buying there. Its safe, great transport links, and is only a 10 minute bus ride into Wimbledon for all the facilities and nightlife. I find it really friendly - my neighbours all introduced themselves within a few weeks - I lived in Clapham for years and didn't even know who my neighbours were! There's definitely a village feel. The Sri Lankan grocers on the High Street know me by name and customers in the shops often start chatting to me. Also, I feel safe walking home late at night - I haven't been followed so far (unlike Clapham!). It's also really convenient - Zone 3 tube, Sainsbury's hypermarket, 24 hour Tescos, large Boots & Next, Merton Abbey Mills for craft shops, farmers market and real Italian family restaurant, Venus bar/restaurant and Rehab gourmet pizza restaurant near tube, 20 mins walk to Wimbledon High Street, 10 mins to the award winning Indian/Sri Lankan restaurants in Tooting, newly re-landscaped Wandle Park opposite the tube and Morden Hall Park (National Trust park/tearooms/shop) a short walk away for Sunday morning strol Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Kate 18 Feb ^ Colliers Wood Moving to Colliers WoddHi, I'm a licensee from Birmingham who is going to take a look at a pub on the high street. I would be very grateful for any more information, good or bad on the area and as i have a 6yr daughter, any schools worth taking a look at. Many thanks, Andy. Post reply -->London Colliers Wood 21 Apr ^ Colliers Wood Hi from Scotland! We lack experience of this part of London. We have booked to stay in the Premier Travel Inn in Merantum Way Merton in order to visit Wimbledon for one day, go to the US embassy for a visa and visit with my son who is a recently graduated drama student and now lives in W11. We would appreciate advice with regard to the personal safety level in that area and also whether the location is suited to what we want to do ie will the travel in and out of London be a major hassle/cost? Mail-me Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Maryforfar 16 May ^ Colliers WoodI have been living in colliers wood for 1 year after living in clapham and central london for 10 years. There are a lot of young middleclass professionals who live here, slowly buying up from the older folk who are moving out. You just have to look at the tube in the morning and evenings to confirm that, apart from the fact nearly all of my neighbours are all 20-late 30 somethings with money to spend. People tend to go into wimbledon or tooting or wandsworth or balham or clapham for drinks & grab a bit to eat becasue the area is significantly missing a decent pub/gastro pub. A gastro-type pub is desperately needed. Ideally with a decent, creative & reasonably priced menu, good selection of wines & guest ales/ciders/beers and importantly, the right decor. Most other areas near to here have a least one if not more, so Colliers Wood would certainly benefit if we had one. Currently the only place to go for a drink that I would consider is CG's which is full of travelers, late night booz Post reply -->London Colliers Wood katharine 2 May Colliers Wood secondary schoolsmoving to CW with a 13 yr old - anyone have any opinions on secondary schools? which would you choose? Email me at Mail-me Alternatively, if there are any fans of crime thrillers and chick lit who would like to take some off my hands, let's talk! Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Car BootDarrell 23 Aug ^ Colliers Wood re 2nd hand booksAletrnatively, why not try and sell them on Amazon ? Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Car BootTim 23 Aug ^ Colliers Wood Car BootsThere is a boot sale at Wimbledon stadium Plough Lane which is 5 minutes drive from Colliers Wood. It takes place every Saturday morning. Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Fiona 29 Jan ^ Colliers WoodHad crossed my mind - that or eBay. But I really don't want to have to go through and make a list of them as there are a fair few. But maybe I shouldn't be so lazy! Post reply -->London Colliers Wood Car BootDarrell 25 Aug ^ Colliers WoodAmazon is really quite quick to upload books for sale onto - I was lazy too but once you start you can get them on quite quickly - and you should get more for them than at a boot sale as they give you a postage allowance which you never fully use up.
